Become A Vegetarian

My biggest problem since i decided to become a vegetarian has not been the food– whice i have found to be delicious and just as satisfying as when i used to eat meat– but the attitudes of my family and friends. Why do they give me weird looks when I say I don’t eat meat? There are twelve million vegetar4ians in the Indonesian, and we are misunderstood by most people. Many people aske the same about questions and say the same about things about vegetariansm, so i have collected together a lot of my replies.
Here are some of them :
“But what do you eat instead ?”
Vegetarians do not live on a diet of raw carrots. Vegetarian cuisine has a huge varity of dishes from spaghetti and salads to tofu and pancakes. I eat the same things as everybody eles– just no meat.
“Do you eat chicken ?”
Vegetarianism means no meat, poultry of fish. A seafood salad is not a vegetarian alternative!
“There’s only a little meat in it. Is that all right?”
Why would a little meat be any better than a lot of meat?
“But meat tastes so good!”
Become a vegetarian is based on ethical principles, and there are logical reasons for it. It is not simply a dislike of the taste of meat, althought this may also be a factor for a few people. When vegetarians get sick we are rolf. “It’s because you have a poor diet.” Meat-eaters get sick too, don’t they? And vegetarians, just like meat-eaters, can have healthy or unhealthy diets.
“Yuck! That looks disguting!”
Before you make faces at my soy hot dog or tofu burger, think about what you’re eating. Just because eating animals is widely accepted doesn’t mean it’s not disguesting to some people.
“But humans have yo eat meat, don’t they?”
My answer is “Why?” Just because some animals eat meat in order to survive doea not mean that humans have to do so too. Meat-eaters aer almost twice as likely to die from heart disease, likly to die from cancer, and more likely to die from other diseases than vegetarians.
